Companies House Verification: A Smart Nudge for Your Clients

The countdown to Companies House identity verification is officially on. From 18 November 2025, new rules come into force requiring directors, Persons with Significant Control (PSCs), and those filing on behalf of companies to verify their identity.

While many recruitment entrepreneurs are already aware, now’s the perfect moment to double-check your own readiness, and help your clients get theirs in order too.

What’s changing and when

Identity verification will soon be a core compliance step for UK company ownership and management. Here’s what you and your clients need to know:

  • New directors:
Must verify their identity before incorporating a new company or before being appointed to an existing company. No verification = no appointment.
  • Existing directors:
Must confirm they have verified their identity when filing their next annual confirmation statement, during a 12-month transition period starting 18 November 2025.
  • Existing PSCs:
Must verify their identity within 12 months of the new system going live.

These reforms are part of a broader government drive to improve transparency and reduce misuse of company records but missing the window could delay filings, company changes, or senior appointments.

Why recruitment entrepreneurs should care

If you run or advise recruitment businesses, these changes matter more than you might think.

  1. You’re directly affected.
As a company director or PSC, you’ll need to verify yourself, or ensure your accountant or authorised provider handles it for you.
  2. Your clients may rely on your guidance.
Recruitment entrepreneurs often work with growing SMEs and startups who won’t be across these reforms. Sharing reminders and resources now adds value and builds trust.
  3. Leadership appointments could stall.
Senior hires stepping into director roles must verify before being formally appointed. A missed verification could hold up start dates or onboarding.
  4. You can lead by example.
Showing that your business is prepared, and helping clients prepare, reinforces your professionalism and reliability.

How to stay ahead

The process itself is straightforward. Verification can be completed either:

  • Directly through GOV.UK One Login, using your photo ID (or via Post Office verification if required), or
  • Via an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) such as your accountant, solicitor, or company service agent.

Once verified, you’ll receive a Companies House personal code, which links your identity to your company record. Keep this code safe, you’ll need it for future filings and updates.

Turning compliance into connection

This isn’t just a government checkbox, it’s a chance to strengthen client relationships.

Reaching out with a short reminder, LinkedIn post, or quick checklist email shows that you’re switched on, proactive, and invested in helping clients stay ahead of compliance deadlines.

In a competitive market, those touches of professionalism and care make a lasting impression.

At QUBA Solutions, we’re encouraging all our recruitment partners to use this as an opportunity to add value, not admin, helping clients stay compliant while reinforcing your credibility as a trusted recruitment business partner.

You’ve likely done your part but many of your clients may not have. A short conversation now could save them (and you) a big headache.

Act early. Remind your network. Stay ahead.
