Smartcall Recruitment was founded in 2018 and is now a well established recruitment company offering services across healthcare, logistics and transport industries. Based in Southampton, they successfully supply temporary workers to a large number of companies around the South of England. But Smartcall’s ambition is to grow beyond the South, opening more branches across the UK.
Smartcall’s director and founder, Paul Kimber, has over 19 years’ industry experience. “I didn’t like being micromanaged,” says Paul. “I wanted the freedom to make my own decisions. So I took the leap of faith and set up Smartcall in 2018, and it’s the best thing I ever did.”
When Paul set up Smartcall, he didn’t have any clients, and not only building, but then keeping a client/customer base, was a huge challenge. To focus his efforts on getting more clients, Paul needed a partner to take care of Smartcall’s finances. “We pride ourselves on the strong, personal relationships we have with our clients and candidates,” says Paul. “People buy people. It’s all about the human touch, building trust and loyalty. I have a great team, and that’s the foundation for our success. Our clients and customers know we won’t let them down.” So when it came to finding that partner to handle their back office, Paul had to make sure they wouldn’t let him down either.

QUBA’s upfront funding has helped Paul expand the agency and take on new consultants. “I want the agency to be big enough to look after itself so I can maintain a healthy work-life balance,” says Paul. “And we’re well on the way to doing that. We have a healthy turnover and with QUBA looking after payroll, invoicing and credit control, I don’t have to worry about Smartcall’s day-to-day management. I have a good work-life balance and can concentrate on building a successful business. I still have other companies contacting me about back office admin, but QUBA’s technical development is very impressive.
